Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist and author as well as a TV host and owner of the liberally independent online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece she moved to England when she was 16 and then graduated at the age of 16 from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The first non-native English speaking student, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. When she graduated, she made her mark as an editor for a conservative newspaper as well as with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online platform for voice that offered critical observations regarding the current political situation. Her fame led to the recruitment of a number of well-known contributors to share their views on politics, news as well as culture. Arianna gained fame after she made the decision in 2003 to contest as an Independent candidate for the California Recall Election in order to replace Governor Davis. Aside from that she also led the Detroit Project for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. Her rank was 12th on Forbes's list of the most influential women in the media. In the same year, Guardian listed her among the 100 top media figures. In 2011 AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made the president of that media group which included many existing AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. She was extremely close to her father. However, it was the relationship she had to her mother that formed her. Even in her early childhood, she displayed the skills of leadership for which she has become well known. When she turned 16 she moved to United Kingdom to pursue her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She joined Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years in which she became the third and first female who was elected president. She graduated in 1972 with an advanced degree in Economics. She worked as a critic television host, and columnist upon her graduation. Her appearance in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also a highlight. She started writing books after obtaining his assistance in editing.
