Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is a feminist media critic as well as a public speaker, and Canadian. Feminist Frequency is a website that hosts videos and commentaries analysing portrayals women in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic and blogger. Feminist Frequency, a web-based resource to educate women about their roles in pop culture narratives, is her brainchild. The site also has the director of operations. In her efforts to dispel the myths associated with women in pop culture she also works to highlight issues related to targeted exploitation of women and other marginalized classes of people in the online environment. Sarkeesian is a graduate in social and political thinking from York University. As a public speaker, she's highly sought after and has given talks at TEDxWomen XOXO and United Nations Broadband Working Group. When she was a student at the university she became fascinated by the issue of gender identity and women's rights in the early stages. The ebullient young woman was targeted on the internet for her website series on gender in videogames. The attack did not stop her, rather it strengthened her determination as feminist media critic.
