Laura San Giacomo
San Giacomo made his television debuts in 1987 with four episodes on three television shows. Tania Lewis made two notable appearances on television in Crime Story 1988's episode "Protected Witness" Episode 13 (Season 2) and Miami Vice 1989's episode "Leap of Faith" (Season 5 Episode 21). The Miami Vice episode also featured the presence of her future husband actor Cameron Dye, one year before their marriage. Prior to the show, she was a guest on the daytime soap opera All My Children as Louisa Sanchez, the Latina common-law wife of Mitch Beck (Brian Fitzpatrick) and her presence was threatening to end his romance with Hillary Martin (Carmen Thomas). However, San Giacomo first drew international interest in Steven Soderbergh's Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989) and also marked her debut in film as a recognized actor (in the 1988 film Miles from Home, her part as "Sandy" was not acknowledged). In addition, she was nominated for the Golden Globe Awards for her role on the film, and also received the Los Angeles Film Critics Association New Generation Award. The Cannes Film Festival's most prestigious Grand Prize (the Palme d'Or) was presented to the film. The film grossed $178 million in box office revenue. Also, she was a part of Nadine Cross on the Stephen King TV mini-series The Stand opposite Rob Lowe and Rob Lowe, which earned them the cover of the May 7-13, 1994 issue of TV Guide. She continued to make films, even as she was finishing her 1999 film.
